Adedeji Adeleke: All You Need To Know About Davido’s Father

Adedeji Adeleke is a Nigerian billionaire business magnate. He was born on the 6th of March in 1957. Although Adedeji was born in the Coal City of Enugu in Eastern Nigeria, he is of Yoruba descent in Ede, Osun State in Southwest Nigeria where his parents hail from.


Popularly referred to as Elder, Adedeji Adeleke whose middle name is Tajudeen according to his profile on Bloomberg, he is regarded as an astute yet humane businessman and philanthropist who often prefer to stay under the radar despite the array of wealth and affluence at his disposal.

He is the father to international Afrobeat superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido who once described his father as a disciplinarian who took academics and family quite seriously. Davido acknowledged his father as the force behind his decision to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Babcock University despite his status as a rising music talent.

Education & Move To US

Having left Enugu, Adedeji Adeleke moved to Lagos to commence his primary education where he attended Ansar-Ud-deen Primary School between 1965 to 1970. He would later relocate with the family to his hometown in Osun State where he completed his secondary education at the Seventh-Day Adventist Grammar School.

in 1976, Adedeji Adeleke moved abroad to Western Kentucky University, Kentucky, in the United States, and earned his first degree in Finance three years later in 1979 with an MBA following suit in 1981.

Adeleke would later enroll at the Pacific Columbia University, Mills Valley, California, in 1983 where he bagged PhD and then returned to Nigeria for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps NYSC Scheme.

Family & Politics

The Adeleke family are very popular figures and major players in the politics of Osun State. Isiaq Adeleke, first Governor of the State and two times Senator under the Peoples Democratic Party as well as Ademola Adeleke, a former senator himself and onetime governorship aspirant are both brothers to Adedeji Adeleke. Isiaq however passed away in 2017 after a brief illness while Ademola would be running for governorship in the state for the second time in 2022.

Spouse & Children

Adeleke has been married to two spouses at different periods in his life but has however had kids with four different women. He was once married to Veronica Imade Adeleke, a lecturer, singer and doctor who would later pass on in 2003, precisely on the 6th of March. With Veronica, Adeleke had two children, David Adedeji Adeleke and Sharon Adeleke.

Ashley Coco Adelke is Adedeji Adeleke’s last child. In 2016, she married her longtime boyfriend Caleb Adaji, in Dubai.

His first son Adewale Adeleke was born in Athlanta Georgia in 1988 to Grace Ajunwa. Adewale is a record label owner and also sit on the board of the Pacific Holdings, his father’s company.

Adeleke was also known to have been married to Teju Adeleke who is the Chancellor of Adeleke University and whom he allegedly divorced in 2015.

Business & Philanthropy

Adeleke’s own father, Chief Adebayo Adeleke has been credited as the brain behind the development of Banana Island in Lagos, one of the most affluent vicinity in Africa.

Adeleke is the Founder and CEO of Pacific Holdings Limited. The company owns and operates across major consumer industries including Manufacturing and Energy & Power. Launched in 1983, Pacific Holdings has evolved over the years to become one of Africa’s rising conglomerates.

Popular skit maker, Debo Adebayo popularly known as Mr Macaroni revealed that Adeleke bought him his first laptop. In 2014, Adeleke built and handed over a mega auditorium in Ikeja to his church, The Seventh Days Adventist.
